You simply pay for each lesson as you go along. You can start by wearing a track suit, but ultimately you will need a Gi (Karate Suit) but these are not expensive,You will also need to get a licence which includes personal accident insurance, and in which you record your gradings and competitions or courses you attend.

Go on give it a try, it's healthy, it's fun, it gives you confidence. Fortunately it's still probably true that most of us will never have to defend ourselves for real, but if we had to, karate could be our savoir.


Gradings Order

10th Kyu Blue Belt
9th Kyu Orange Belt
8th Kyu Red Belt
7th Kyu Yellow Belt
6th Kyu Green Belt
5th Kyu Purple Belt
4th Kyu Purple & White Belt
3rd Kyu Brown Belt
2nd Kyu Brown & White Belt
1st Kyu Brown & Red Belt
1st Dan Shodan Black Belt
2nd Dan Ni Dan Black Belt
3rd Dan San Dan Black Belt




You need to do at least 20 lessons between each grading. You instructor will evaluate you as the grading are coming up and will only let you do it if they are confident you can do it. It can still be tough on the day with your nerves ajangle. Try and remember it's not the end of the world if you miss the grade, you can always take it next time. A relaxed confident attitude is a winning attitude...
